About
Our Purpose
Formed following the launch of the 2020 Biodiversity Call to Action, the Faith and Biodiversity UN Coordination Group was established to serve the following purposes:
A space for faith-based organizations (FBOs) and conservation groups to network and jointly advocate for biodiversity at key international moments in order to set the stage for urgent action over the next 10 years.
To direct members to resources on faith and conservation in alignment with the commitments made in the 2020 Biodiversity Faith Call to Action
To increase FBO understanding of biodiversity concerns and support urgent action in international agreements
To support FBO engagement with conservation organizations, like WWF
To support the development of faith long term plans (FaithPlans) in collaboration with WWF and FaithInvest
Activities
In order to fulfil these purposes, the Group undertakes the following activities:
Strategic engagement at key international biodiversity moments.
Quarterly meetings to update members on plans and activities
Monthly newsletter with news and updates
Capacity building webinars and events
Identifying key FBOs working in this field
Mapping exercises to understand the work of members and identify gaps in knowledge
Join Us
FBOs wishing to join the Group are asked to meet the following criteria:
Membership is open to legally registered nonprofits and NGOs
Members to be a signatory of the 2020 Biodiversity Faith Call to Action or have a demonstrated track record of action in alignment with the commitments of the 2020 Biodiversity Faith Call to Action.
Members need to have an established relationship with the UN (ECOSOC, DPI/DGC, UNFCCC, CBD) or demonstrated history of engagement with the UN
